“Having a baby is expensive” is what we have heard from some of those around us. Well-meaning, yes, but we refused to receive this over our lives and our future. We knew one day we would start having kids, and we wanted to start at two years married. It didn’t happen as planned, in fact, it happened in a season of “maybe we will wait longer, what is the rush? Let’s pay off more debt first”. God’s timing is best.
It truly was divine timing and an act of God, we were pregnant! The Lord even gave my husband 4 words confirming that he heard he was gonna be a dad soon. As it turns out when he got those words we were already pregnant and didn’t even know it!
The day we found out we were pregnant, my car was in the shop needing thousands of dollars of work done. Shortly after that, my job ended because my boss felt that my pregnancy might bring too much complication to my job and they needed a backup plan. It was much better for both sides to split ways.
Then my husband’s car stopped working, and the fuel pump exploded and caused shrapnel to wreak havoc throughout the fuel system. That is a super long story in itself but we had to take 2 loans out to fix the car (in hindsight we should have said goodbye to it in the beginning) but after months in two different shops, it’s fixed! At that time we had multiple friends loan us cars, it was an incredible blessing and allowed us to have two cars as I had gotten a job as a manager of an amazing restaurant about 40 min away.
Our birth plan was to be as natural as possible, we were able to give birth at a beautiful birth center where one of the world’s best doulas (IMO), a friend of mine blessed us with her services, the Lord put it on her heart to do so before she even knew about our situation.
God’s goodness did not stop there! Everything, and I mean everything we needed for our baby was gifted to us! Much of it is brand new, if not in perfect condition! Many things I didn’t even ask for but had a desire in my heart for! We didn’t have to buy anything even diapers until he was about 3 months old or so! After his birth, we were surrounded by love and help from those in our local church. We will forever be thankful for them all!
We have always trusted and prayed that our son belongs to God before he belongs to us, and material things are in no way the most important things, but those are things we are not meant to worry about. In a time when we would not have been able to go out and get those things ourselves, the Lord provided abundantly!
Where in your life has God provided? I would love to hear!
